Add / subtract / multiply / divide fractions.
Add, subtract, multiply, or divide two fractions and get the result in reduced form plus decimal.
Uses GCD reduction to always return the simplest form.
Addition and subtraction require a common denominator first, while multiplication and division work directly on numerators and denominators — this is why fraction arithmetic feels less uniform than working with plain decimals.
1/2 + 1/3 = 5/6 (≈ 0.833333).
The sign stays with the numerator (e.g. −1/2). Fully reduced.
Convert to improper first — 1 1/2 = 3/2 — then enter as 3/2.
An unreduced fraction like 4/8 is mathematically identical to 1/2, but simplest form is the conventional way to report an answer and makes it easier to compare against other fractions at a glance.
