Weighted Grade Calculator

Final grade from weighted assignments.

How this calculator works

Weighted average where each grade contributes proportionally to its weight percentage. Total weights should add to 100.

Enter each item as 'grade, weight' — one per line.

This differs from a simple average in an important way — a heavily-weighted final exam can outweigh several smaller assignments combined, so knowing your weights matters as much as knowing your scores when deciding where to focus study time.

Example

For 85,30 + 92,30 + 78,40: weighted average = (85×30 + 92×30 + 78×40) / 100 = 84.30%.

Frequently asked questions

Do weights have to add to 100?

They should for a percent-weighted average. The tool normalizes if they don't, but check your grading policy.

Can I include a not-yet-taken exam?

Enter your target grade for the missing item to see the overall result if you hit that target.

How do I find the minimum score I need on a final?

Plug in your target overall grade and solve backward, or try a few different scores for the missing item until the weighted result matches your goal.
